Meadow Farm

A Net Positive Energy, LEED Platinum home by William McDonough + Partners.

This home and small organic farm in Northern California is driven by a deep connection to place. The project produces more energy than it consumes, is passively cooled with no mechanical air conditioning, utilizes numerous locally-sourced and Cradle-to-Cradle certified materials, and was a pilot project for SITES certification.

I served as a member of the project team from project inception through construction; I also coordinated LEED Homes certification. You can learn more about the project on William McDonough + Partners' website.

The home utilizes solar thermal collection for domestic hot water and pool heat, and solar electric for the remaining energy needs. Rainwater is collected for irrigation, and the building is plumbed for future graywater reuse. Earth from site was used in rammed-earth walls, and Cradle-to-Cradle materials were specified throughout.
